AMD Ryzen 7 3800X never below 2.2GHz and no temp reporting

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently bought a new PC and I am now running into a few oddities. As mentioned here before, I had trouble getting the clock rate of the cores above 800MHz. A BIOS update solved that.
Now I am having trouble getting them below 2.2GHz when they are idle. I also can’t seem to read out the CPU temperature.

Some needed details:
CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X
MB: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master
OS: KDE neon (based on ubuntu bionic)

Operating System: KDE neon User Edition 5.16
            Kernel: Linux 5.0.0-31-generic

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Newer kernel should help.

Does Linux have any way to report sleeping cores? This sounds like the windows boys using hwmonitor and not realizing it only reports last wake state and not sleeping cores since they don’t use ryzen master…

Gnome has CPUFreq – but I don’t know if it works on AMD.
