Amd Radeon Pro W7500 GPU Passthrough

Hey Everyone

I’ve got a set of identical systems as below:

Ryzen 9 9950X
AMD Radeon Pro W7500
Asus Pro Art X670E Creator Wifi
96gb ddr5 ecc (cant remember the brand)

The host OS for most of the systems is Arch Linux and we are using virt-manager, qemu and libvirt for virtualization.

So far I have been able to successfully disable the GPU from being use by the host OS and have it pass through to the VM (win10). The issue is now that there is no output from the GPU through any of the displayport ports. I have got the environment to work using LookingGlass which is proof enough to me that the GPU is being correctly utilized and I can see that Windows recognises it.

Has anyone had any issues like this and maybe found a solution? I also tried pulling the ROM from the GPU in GPU-z but that doesn’t seem to have helped. Not sure if I would need to disable anything else for this to take affect.

Any help would be verey much appreciated, it’s been a long process with no success and since we need to roll out these systems to our engineers we are on more of a time limit.

(yes we should have tested that this worked previously but this is now something we have to work with)

Welcome!

What exactly are you tring to do with the system?

Reason I ask is I just got the exact same card so that I can do VDI without the virtualization overhead, I suppose hardware accelerated remote desktop is a more appropriate term; perhaps this is just my lack of imagination speaking.

When the GPU doesn’t have output through the physical ports, is this after looking glass is installed?

I had attempted to use the VM without having looking-glass installer prior with no luck. I used looking glass to confirm the GPU was being used by the VM and so I could confirm that the drivers would install.

The host machines are used in a dev environment and the Windows VW is for some windows specific software/testing.
