AMD - R9-300 Series may be coming sooner than we think: R9-390 is HERE

The R9-300 series may come sooner than we think, even hints of it coming this month or even somewhere during the summer.

We've seen that allegedly the R9-370 was supposed to be a 4GB card. we can't confirm that. BUT the R9-390 has already been made by XFX. and it's not Watercooled. o.o

Rumors are that its going to have either a 4GB HBM or 8GB HBM but strong rumors state 8GB HBM to compete with Titan-X.

But here is the XFX R9-390 Double Dissipation in all it's golden glory.

Gee.. I wonder where they got their color scheme from...

Personally I would like mine bacon cooled, every time a strip gets fried you just eat it and install a new bacon strip.

I would use the GPU core to boil my water so that i can have my Green Tea. then lie to everyone and say It's from Fiji.

that is a nasty color scheme. looks like something from the early 2000's. Hopefully thats a prototype and not what it will look like. Well it is XFX. I have never thought of buying a XFX card again. I had a bad experience back when 5700gt was a thing

Honestly it reminded me of the PNY blower-style coolers.

I don't mind XFX all that much. they're okay. i mean they are one of the very few vendors that offer life time warranty.

Oh goodie! I was getting tired of waiting, and was about to pull the trigger on a GTX 980 last night. I'm glad I talked myself out of it.

likey like.

The XFX shrout design looks sexy, But im doubting that that card is a 390.
I think its an 290X rebrand, aka 380X.
But i can be wrong of course.

It looks like a 290X rebrand. But from what I heard they weren't gonna be doing rebrands? Well first the rumor was they were then the rumor was no. I mean the 370X is gonna be a new card or at least so it seems.

IDK I think this is all BS with the rumors. Let's just wait and see.

Rumors are mixed when it comes to the topic of re-brands. but I truly believe there will be re-brands.

Simply because the R9-290x was an impeccable card. and it makes no sense to kill it off. and we all know AMD is struggling. AMD in 2015, all they are doing is re-branding the Kaveri APUs into Godaveri, they've stated they have chips for the mobile market, but we haven't seen ANY progress. and with GPUs all we know for a fact the only new GPU cores that's coming is the Fiji XT and Fiji Pro aka R9-390x and R9-390. it would make sense to re-brand Hawaii and Tonga since they are still relatively new GPU cores. and Tonga did incredibly well against the GTX 960 anyways. just put raise the core clocks to a considerable amount. change the name and ship it. Boom a GTX 960 killer. i'm still curious how the R9-290x or whatever the 380x will perform. i don't think raising the core-clocks of the R9-290x is going to help at all, besides from experience they were poor overclockers. if they do re-brand it, i think the overclocking potential is going to be terrible.

Judging from the very low res pixily picture it looks like XFX kept the seperate plate idea for memory cooling but removed the part of it that used to cool the 290's VRM.

The 290's vrm1's cooling in XFX's card was basically just a flat piece of aluminium, absolutely terrible and very overheating prone. Instead it look like they made a finned heatsink for the VRM1 which should be tons better.

If they kept their gpu cooling design, which was not bad for the form factor, in combination with the much better vrm1 cooling in this version this might turn out to be a great air cooled card.

THe reason why im pretty sure that the XFX card is a R9-380X is because the new R9-390 (X) will be a totaly new gpu Fiji XT and Pro.

Its not very likely, that third party manufacturers allready have the availebillity to those new chips, and i also doubting that they allready have their aftermarket coolings ready for that.
It simply does not look very likely do me.

The reference AMD cards are all made by Sapphire, so i dont think that XFX allready has their own 390 ready.

This is just another click bate article from WCCF Tech as usual.
They allready have rectified the article by the way.
