Amd questions

I have heard a lot of negitive talk about the amd fx process and the mother broads that use them in Matx . My question is why is this and what about the new e models that they just put out. So for a new PC builder who is building their first gaming rig would it be worth while to go atx . Another question is that I'm planing to buy an msi gtx 970 would a 8320e bottleneck that card or should I upgrade to another CPU. Thanks for all the help do far.

AMD FX processors, especially the 8 cores, require a decent amount of power.  The Micro-ATX AM3+ boards on the market weren't designed to handle the type of power delivery that the 8 cores require, and as a result you may experience thermal throttling on either the motherboard, an inability to hit the 8 core's maximum speed, or the motherboard frying itself.  If you want to go small in terms of form factor, go with Intel or FM2+.

The FX e models are just refined/binned versions of the FX-chips that manage to run at a lower 95w TDP.  They are less power hungry and will put out less heat.

Depending on the budget, AMD can get you a pretty nice gaming and rendering system.  A GTX 970 and FX-8320e would work quite well together, although I'd rather just shoot for the regular FX-8320 as it's still better in a couple of benchmarks and games.  However, Intel's newest i5-4690K is doing quite good as well, and may fare better in today's games.
