AMD Phenom II X6 1045T vs Intel Core i7

This guy tested a simple render with both CPU's and believes he has been ripped off. What should he do?

Buy AMD CPu's, unless that 11.5% increase is really worth an extra $100 in your application. If I have money to upgrade my rig next gen, I'm buying Steamroller, unless Haswell smokes steamroller in real world applications; I couldn't care less about synthetic benchmarks.

wow

I agree. However it all matters in what applications that the CPU is used in. AMD is better in some areas than Intel, and vice versa. With this one test, he thinks he has been cheated. He isn't going to realise the potential the i7 really has.

and that being...?

That Cinebench lawsuit result is gonna be really SPICY!

It can handle x86 and x64 programs really well. It ain't amazing, but it gets the job done. If you do want something powerful, get 2011. AMD FX 8350 I have heard is badass.

That would make every single benchmark software useless. People pay for that!

Either way...Intel is still faster, even if it is just about a minute and a half faster. With larger video projects the Intel will be able to render much, much faster than the AMD processor. I would be interested to see how the 8350 stacks up against it though.

The 3770k is only 11.5% faster in that render test, and carries a 275% permium over the 1045T, and has an 800MHz clock speed advantage.

Only 2 minutes faster lol what a joke

That paying $100 extra 11.5% math was from my comment, I removed that comment and revised it. I did some math on the price of the 3770k costing $330 and the 1045t costing $110.

I ain't paying $220 more for an extra 11.5%

That's fool's math, Playa!

I'm gonna conclude that the HDD's he used may have been a bottleneck. Or the chipset he used.

When it comes to rendering, the Graphics card usually does all of that

Uh...what are you talking about?

Rendering

According to the guy in the video, he disabled CUDA. It was all CPU.

lol vegas is about the only app that the phenom 6 can compete with an i7. still the amd has 6 cores against the intels 4. the p2 turbans were great cpu's as for him not being a fanboi you can tell by his tone that he is a fanboi. the t1045t would out perfom an i7 920 on vegas so it doesnt suprise me that its only 10% slower than a new i7 thats only 25% faster per clock than the i7 920.

also if he had of used it without hyperthreading it would have actually give better perfomance because the cpu wouldnt be sheduling 2 threads per core which reduces the intels overall perfomance by as much as 25% in some cases.

but still he is ranting that a 6 core is marganaly slower than a 4 core. what did he expect a miricle... if you understand the hardware you wont ever be suprised by results like these. its the reason why i havent upgraded since the i7 920 came out. the gains just werent worth the money.

so pleas OP stop trying to point out the obvious...

oh! and real world the phenom is about 50% slower for gaming aand is starting to bottleneck on the new gpu's when 1 or 2 thread are used.

so to me its a slective bench that shows the potential of the amd phenom very well and the limits of the intel. but if he had of used it in a different scenario the results would have been dramatically different.

You must be a wizzard.

were great cpu's as for him not being a fanboi you can tell by his tone that he is a fanboi. -Hexxit

He also said that he made a video about that amd sucks.

uhmm let me see.

oh yeah he is a fanboy for sure.

So please dont talk out of your ass next time

makes some great points. i 2 had an amd athlon x2 in 2007 and concure it was great for the money.

but today i couldnt justify the expence of the amd platform for the perfomance you get in games. after seeing the last year or so that amds perfomance curve has leveled off to the point its giving 10-15 fps less when paired with the same gfx card it really is hard to recomend it. especially when that 10 or so fps could be the difference between laggy and smooth.

ive said it on tom's so il say it here. AMD needs to be competative or the end user looses regardless of your platform.

so yeah buy a cpu for the perfomance not the badge.
