best build. For 600 dollars you can get a ton for your money.

That is probably the best one I have seen so far and its the cheapest as well thank you this is the one I will go with If I do not see a better one

I would prefer dual channel up front, unless OP decided to do a lot of video rendering and such.  Therefore, 2x4GB would be my pick.

Hitachi ultrastars have an incredibly high failure rate.

That GPU's been out of stock for ages now.

Then what would you recommend for this price point?

This is what i came up with

You can get http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr927xoc2gd instead of r9 270

or

Or you can grab a case with a few more features with that other 40$

FX-6300.  Great budget CPU for budget gaming.

The Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0 is capable of running the FX-8320 and other power hungry CPUs.  You can upgrade to an 8 core in the future.  It has a digital 6+2 power phase design so you can overclock if you get a third party cooler.  You will also be able to get a more precise overclock due to its digital design.  It also has enough bandwidth for dual GPUs.

2x4GB RAM.  Nothing fancy.  I have the same exact sticks in my system and they work great.

1TB Caviar Blue.  I have this in my own rig.  Great drive.

R9 270.  Similar to the 270X/7870's performance minus a frame or two.  It's not far behind the 760 as well.

Source 210 is a nice budget case.

CX430.  A little bit on the low side, but here's my reasoning.  A CX600 won't be able to handle dual R9 270s, and  therefore the extra money you spent on the wattage won't be utilized.  You'll have to upgrade it if you want to run multiple GPUs.  The R9 270 isn't very power hungry, and will run just fine on a 430w psu.

Simple optical drive.  My computer has none.  ODDs are getting phased out; everything seems to be going digital.

Good build I like this one and the CD drive is a good touch because I prefer to run disks then buy stuff off steam and such

Yeah if I went with this one I could go with a fractal design r4 case because Logan says they are pretty quiet and I think they are a sleek case

Of course, gives you a little bit of choice to go what ever direction you choose.

meh, over priced right now on the gpu side, CPU side, an 8350 is lie 170-180, an 8320 is like 140-150. I did manage to pick up a 7950 at 180 before the massive price hike, too bad it is out of commission right now :(.

fractal r4 is awesome case! really easy to work in.

7870 vs gtx 760 is pretty big. this is oc benchmark btw.

cx 600 is 38$ or was atleast. cx600 is 480Watt on 12 volt rail. cx 430 has 336watt on 12V rail. not that much wattage:(. cx600 is better imo if you upgrade your gpu after 3 years.

+ r9 270 is overpriced. it's normally 180$ with bf4.

that ASRock board has 4+1 power phase design. i recommend 6+2 or more. 4 for the cpu is ok for a fx 6300 95 watt cpu, but if you want to oc a bit you can't. sinds the fx 6350 is sligthly higher clockspeed with a tdp of 125watt which isn't supported by the motherboard.

ok we are all set on the fx 6300, wd blue and 2x4gb memory.

fx 6300 110$

??????? 80-110$

2x4gb ram 70-80$

gtx 760/r9 270 250/200$

wd blue 1tb 60$

cx 600 38$

case????? 30-50$

(odd) older build or a cheap one 0-15$ (why you don't buy your games from steam? massive sales and dvd is slow)

588-663$ price range.

i'm set on fx 6300, gigabyte 970 ud3 or m5a99x evo R2.0, gtx760, 2x4gb ram, wd blue 1tb, nzxt 210 or a corsair 200r if you found one for 50$ or less, cx600

why a r9 270x for 270$? 270x is the same as 270.
