AMD or Intel Laptop?

Hey forum peeps, this is more of a laptop question, not really only a GPU question (please make a laptop subforum!), but which processor has the strongest integrated graphics: a4-5000, a6 (no specific model), a8(also no specific model) or an Intel Pentium/i3/i5.

BTW, my budget is only $400 Canadian so that's why I'm not listing any other higher end processors. I won't find them on sale most likely. And no, I am not willing to spend more money on a gaming laptop. All I want to do on it is play Minecraft, take notes in class and watch YouTube.

Pre-Thanks for any forum member which adds input!

I'd say go with Intel. I believe the iGPU is better on an a8, but since the only game you'll be playing is Minecraft, the iGPU won't be as important, and the stronger performance from Intel will help a lot.

I'd look to get at least an i3 since hyperthreading makes a pretty big difference over a pentium. An i5 of course would be best, but I wouldn't worry too much about getting an i5 over an i3.

The reason I'm reluctant on the i3/i5 is that I'm pretty sure their integrated gpu's will bottleneck Minecraft. I play Minecraft on a 1.66ghz single core netbook, and the CPU isn't the bottleneck, its the GPU, and I'm afraid even in high Intel models the GPU will be a huge bottleneck.

Bump

Personally, I have an A8-5557M and it handles Minecraft flawlessly.

My advice: grab an A8, install a shader mod for Minecraft (even if you don't actually use any special shaders). This should both speed it up and push the bottleneck to the GPU.

If you decide to play any other game with it, you'll be glad you got the more powerful graphics.

awesome, thanks for the input! What fps do you usually run at and with what settings?
