AMD or Intel for $600 Build?

I need to know whether I should choose an AMD CPU or an Intel CPU for a $600 build. I'm pretty sure the answer is AMD but I need to know which exact CPU to get. This is for GAMING.

update: I made a list. Give me feedback please.

AMD. I would go with an 8320 or 8350 if you can squeeze it in the budget, if your going higher end video card maybe a 6300, but i would try for the 8 cores! xD.I wouldn't go Intel for $600 build unless you can get at least a i5 K version, the CPU start at $220 for that i think.

I don't know if you saw the list but I am going for a Radeon R9 290. What do you think of this?

That is a decent gpu, very good one. Can handle most games max out in 1080p, and high settings on 1440p

Also, no storage at all? You might want a 126 GB SSD or a bit less

The Msi 970A-G46 please stay away from that motherboard, if you are going with a FX 8 core. The vrms and mosfets are realy awfull on those boards.

I would highly recommend a better motherboard then.

  1. Asrock 970 Performance
  2. Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
  3. Msi 970A Gaming
  4. Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0

Best I could do if you REALLY want AMD's 8 core.

I recommend for a $600 build a decent quad core CPU from AMD. If you want, i can say that getting an APU then getting a GPU later is a good route

Some build i had laying around, which I was considering on building.  Ignore the SSD lol.
