AMD or Intel CPU for a 7870 Ghz?

So here's my story:

I was all set for buying all my parts for my first gaming rig, with a budget of about $1000. I am set on getting a XFX 7870 as my GPU because of the performance for the price, as well as Newegg's 2 free game deal.

Originally I had wanted to get a i5 3570K because of it's reputation for gaming. But I had a nagging doubt in my mind that I am paying to much for the CPU compared to the GPU. Another concern that I have is that the socket 1155 motherboards are going to be replaced soon while the AM3+ boards will be supported into 2014.

AMD's FX 6300 seems like a great deal, almost $100 less than the 3570K, but the flagship FX 8350 is also cheaper than the Intel. I am getting this rig mainly to game, but also some Photoshop. Am I right to doubt getting an Intel CPU right now?

Getting the FX 6300 would mean that I would have the money to get an SSD. How good well does a rig with an FX 6300 and a 7870 GHz play the most current games (Tomb Raider, ARMA 3, etc.) Could I play them at 1080p on high or ultra?

So should I sick with the Intel 3570K or go with AMD FX 6300/FX 8350?

im using a amd 6300 and it is fantastic. if you are thinking about intel for gaming, go with the 2500k instead of the 3570. it will overclock way better and will provide better gaming performance. I personaly went with amd because it was cheaper and has great performance for only $120. The fx 6300 will do you just fine.

im also using a 7870. the 6300 and 7870 together is a beast machine!

Have you purchased the 7870 yet,if not,we can probably build you something that might run better.

I already bought it, I think it is what I need and plus I didn't want Crysis 3 that came with getting a better card. I can always buy a second 7870 in the future.

XFX 7870 DD isĀ  a very nice card.

FX6300 also good for gaming, i think its competentiveĀ  with the i5 3570k.

the FX8350, beats the 3570k 8 out of 10 times, and its close and somethimes better then the i7 3770k esspecialy in streaming

the i5 3570k or the FX6300 are both good choises, but wenn you look to price to performance, then amd wins all the way
