AMD Multiuser GPU virtualization demonstrated at VMworld 2015

So basically multiple computers can utilize a single GPU across a network? Suppose it'll save a small office a few bucks only having to buy a single Firepro

Seems to me like in the old days when a company had one huge computer in the basement and every worker had an acces terminal, just with a GPU instead.

the so called gpu multiuser from AMD was available for quite a while now... (more widely since r9 200 series, and even dedicated firepro alike card for just that)

Was that at the hardware level as well? that seems to be the big deal with this one

yeah, at hardware level. It was supported since I believe FirePro S7000 and you already could do about ~20 users. But they had radeon SKY series which were even better. (if anything was done, I think they've upped OpenCL version in drivers)
