AMD is known for false Temp readings right? I dont need to be worried?

CPUID HWMonitor

I think that is a common bug in hwmonitor. I've had readings like that before too but everything was fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

What mobo do you have. If your motherboard doesn't have VRM heatsinks the cpu temp will be altered to look higher than it actually is in order to save your components from over heating. Msi does this with their 970a-g43. The FX chips run pretty hot though. After about an hour on my fx 8320 the temp reads 38-42 with my hyper 212 plus.

Im guessing you are referring to the "TMPIN2" reading? If something in any temperature monitoring program is crazy you can safely assume it is an error either in the sensors or the program's reading of them. No temperature on your computer would ever really go beyond about 100C without shutting down unless you are running something really exotic.

128 is also the maximum value of 7 bits so maybe it is set to that as an error message.

Well lets give the clear ansewr to this then.

The reason why the TMPIN2 sensor on Asus AM3+ boards say that its 128C, is because its an non existing sensor.

Grtz Angel ☺

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to be sure. And it's a M5A99FX Pro R2 with an 8350 cooled by a Noctua NH-D14.

Yeah dont worry lol, my TMPIN2 is also 128c all day long, day in day out, for 1.5 years now. lol.

Like i said the tmpin2 sensor does not exists, thats why it gives you a wierd reading.

NO! ITS 128c!!!!!!!!!! xD
