Hello guys,
First, I apologyze for my bad english, I'm good to write "yes" or "no" and "of course", but full phrases are a different metter to me... have patience, please :)
A couple of days ago, after weeks of googleing on reviews and reviews, I switched from water cooled system (Switfech H220) to air cooled heatsink I had the pleasure to find on amazon: I took interest in this PH-TC14PE for low-noise and low-temperature rating, even compared to ultracool Noctua we all know about.
The question is absolute: why switching? well, I'm in the way of customizing all my water cooling system for I'm not satisfied of what I had. I always was curious about 9590 behaviour with a good air cooler an, because I needed it for other various reasons, I gave it a try.
PRO:
- really easy to mount
- 2 stock silent fans , brackets for a third fan already included
- stock thermal compound Phanteks PH-NDC "high-purity nano diamond like particles"
- silent, silent, silent...
CONS:
- lost 2 dimm slots due to heatsink size: perhaps very tiny memory cards could be used, but I'm not so sure
- I had to put outer fan in a higher position than intended, because my ram module are really high (Corsair Dominator Premium)
- Case doesn't close for the reason above
- higher idle temp (but really, who care?)
picture from the top:
How I lost 2 ram slots, and how I had to mount the outer fan:
And this one is too cool to keep in my pocket:
And here are the numbers:
Environment temp: , 25°C (+3°C than previous sampling)
Idle temp: 38°C (+5°C then previous cooler)
Gaming temp: 52°C (-3°C then previous cooler)
Stress test max: Prime95, 30 minutes, 64°C max, but continuously floating between 61°C and 64°C (previous cooler: not passed, always slowly raising over 70°C)
Writing this post: 41°C :)
Fan Noise: 600 rpm: 36db, 1200 rpm: 50db (keystroking on the keyboard: 61db) - thanks to android app Smart Tools Sound Meter
Well, considering environment temp being higher by 3°C, we all can do some calculations.
My conclusion: Test passed
AMD FX-9590 can be aircooled really well and Phanteks PH-TC14PE is a perfect in air cooling solution.
And, for cool bros, you can even buy an outstanding example of fancifulness :)
thanks for your attention,
