AMD FX-8350 Stock Cooler Too Loud

And while I was playing Skyrim my CPU temp hit 51 degrees celsius. Now I have a Corsair Carbide 300R case and need a decent cooler that is quiet and will fit in my case. Thanks for any help/suggestions :)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO $30 it will do the job nicely

The CM Hyper 212 EVO is definitely cooler and quieter than stock coolers, and can even support some mild OC. Its definitely worth checking out.

You can get the Hyper 212 EVO like everybody else suggested, and if you want more performance, you can buy some high-end 120mm fans and slap those on the heatsink (you can even do one on both sides for a push/pull configuration).

Good heatsink fans would be the Corsair SP series 120mm fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181040

Just curious: the Hyper 212X is only $4 difference in price, and the Xigmatek Dark Knight Hawk only $5 difference in price, from the 212 Evo.

Is there any good reason that I still see nearly everyone recommending the Evo, aside from the few dollars saved?

There are much better fans for the money, that are quieter too. If you're going for looks over performance, though, SP120s match that perfectly.

well a hyper 212 + (i assume you mean plus, as it's the only other 212 i know of) isn't as good, not bad, but still not as good

and dark night is usually a bit more exensive than that

212X:

My apologies. Here, Australia, I can get the Evo $39, 212X $44, Dark Knight Hawk $45. I assumed the prices for these would still be relatively close in other regions.

I would go with the dark night. As i have used both the 212 evo and the 212x. The only difference between the evo and the x is the fan. If you add a noctua or sp120 you will be getting better temps than the 212x fan.
