Me and my brother ware having a "fight". He told me that the AMD CPUs overheat and die fast. I just want to know how much does the 8350 overheat and it's life time. And what kind of cooler shoud i buy with it. Thanks for the answers.
Well it does not "overheat" even on the stock cooler but I would get a hyper 212 evo cpu cooler so that you can overclock and squeze more performance out the chip ,
as for lifetime as long as you take care of it and dont overclock it to 1 bajillion ghz on air cooling then it should last you a long happy life long before you want or need to upgrade!
Erm...is your brother one of those 'oh I know it all when it comes to computers' types? He's both right and wrong. If you overclock to stupid ghz all the time and are constantly running your computer, it won't last that long. But it will last for a long while with a nice usage, just as an Intel CPU would. If you're just looking to overclock a little from time to time get a hyper evo or something similar. Otherwise the Kraken kicks ass.
It runs hotter than intels counter-part but will overclock fine on air cooling such as the 212 evo. As long as you aren't running it to hot it should last a good while.
I have my computer turned on from the moment i come home to the moment i got to sleep (9+ hours) and at the begining i don't have a plan to overclock it.
I put a H60 on my 8350 it runs so icey.
Your brother is an idiot, no offense.
If you aren't planning to overclock, don't you worry about the temps. Don't forget to properly apply the thermal paste if you're adding a new heatsink
he is that kind of guy "when it comes to computers i know everything" like downing asked me. He was saying like "they overheat quickly" and "when they die they can kill every othe component in your rig" and so on
