AMD FX-8350 Gaming build, help!

Will this processor be good enough for gaming (by the way, this is my first build) ? I watched all Logan's videos about the FX-8350 and i draw a conclusion: For the money, it's better than an i5 3570k, in most games. I want it to be a future proof build, so i think that the FX is a better choice (i am going to play games like BF3 or FC3, on ultra settings).

Also, should i go with a EVGA 660 ti ? I know it's better in games than the EVGA 660 SC (superclocked)..but is it worth 70$ more ? On the other hand, i could go with a 7870 GHz Edition, but it isn't as good as a 660 ti in BF3.

I am going to OC the CPU (...or at least try...) at @4.5 GHZ so that's why i got the H60 water cooling unit. PLEASE don't tell me to change the case :)) i love how it looks :D

PLEASE : will the H60 fit on the mobo ?

I was looking to build a very similar build to your one.. And I was just wondering how suitable is that motherboard? and also is liquid cooling really necessary especially if not planning to over clock at all? I thought I could save some money on that and invest it in better graphics card

Spend the extra 10 or 20 and get the 7950. It outperforms the 660ti barley, but when you Overclock it, it destroys. If you're going to a future proof build I'd highly suggest the 7950 over the 660ti. The H60 will easily fit into the Phantom. Liquid cooling isn't 100% necessary if you're not OCing; it'll make it quiter for sure but you could save 30$ and go with a heatsink.

Swap the GTX 660Ti for a Radeon HD 7870 Ghz Edition. That card is a beast, and it's cheaper too!

With the extra $50 or so from changing the GPU, upgrade your PSU to around 750 watts, and upgrade your CPU Heatsink from a Corsair H60 to a Corsair H100i. It might cost a bit more to get both, but trust me, it's worth it! With the Corsair H100i, you'll be able to achieve 4.5Ghz without a problem.

got you a power supply with more head room since you're overclocking. Also the TPC 812 with the SP120 fans (they say case fans but they are more suited for heatsinks/rads) will perform just below if not on par with the h100.

The 7870 gHz isn't as good as the 660ti. If he's willing to buy a 660ti why wouldn't he get the 7950 and OC it so it's competeing with a 680?

seems like a good build to me.

but i dont know much about Nvidia cards, ive got a 7870 HiS in my system.

i preffer a better power suply too

about 750W 80+ bronze is more safe.

ofc a h100 lc will fit on the mainboard.

i usethe stock cooler cause im not oc, but, the H100 can be a good value, stock cooler  under gamer runes my fx8350 to about 46 degrees, but the cooler is very noise at higher speeds.

so if you gone game for hours, it can be a bit annoying. but it cooles fine..

wenn you gonne oc its better to buy the h100. ive got the same mobo.

here a better all around build

honestly for the money dont buy an h60, they are worse then the air cooler I put into this build, I would add 2 akasa vipers to that build from sidewindercomputers, put them on the cooler in push/pull, they will be quiet and keep the chip cool even at 4.6(thats teh cooler I have, but I just have 1 large panaflo on it at the moment....waiting on my 120 vipers to show up)

the caseis amazing(look at the video review on newegg) honestly, also the motherboard is better then the one you picked, its an overclocking beast!!!!

with this build you could even toss on a 2nd 7870xt if you want even more power(faster then a 690!!!), I know logan had issues getting CF working with 1 game, not sure why....I have been running crossfire for years and the rare game I find without a cf profile(mostly very new or beta titles) i build a profile with radeon pro :)

and before anybody asks, I have used kingwin psu's for years, i have had very few fail, even when heavly overloaded, I have infact had better luck with kingwin then antec or thermaltake. (i have worked at shops that used alot of kingwin psu's, most of kingwins psu's are SuperFlower builds, so they are VERY VERY solid :) )

1. Why the hell would he need 32GB of RAM for gaming? That's a stupid waste.

2. The PSU you chose isn't 80+ Certified. That's not good.

3. Crossfire 7870's have lots of problems, and they will NEVER, EVER beat a GTX 690...

Hi since this topic already exists I'll just post here. It's a similair build. Im a total newbie to building pc this is just a collection of stuff i learned so far.  All hail TekSyndicate :P

No SSD and the cooling unit is not a fancy schmancy water unit. Also I want to keep it real cheap so Im not sure about the psu. will a 600W do ??

Opinions please

I also have a very similar build and was wondering if everything is good and compatibale and/or if there is something I need to change

Your psu is overkill. You could do CF 7870 and still have only half the wattage used.

Maybe go for hyper 212 evo, just because it's easy to use as a refference model for your future purchases.

Other then that it's an excellent build.

your link doesn't work by the way kurle89

Ive picked up my gear and I love it. Got the hyper 212 evo cooler and it works like a dream. Such good cooler for the price :)

Think I've changed the psu to a crapier one tho as when i set all detail on max there are issues.. ups... might have to change my psu soon.

Overall im really happy with it. Thx for the help.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GUCJ here's my build it allows for upgrading and can also be used for editing or streaming if you desire.
