AMD FX 8350 Build

I recently stumbled upon this video, https://teksyndicate.com/comment/1688687#comment-1688687, for a 8350 gaming build.

I have the 8350 and I want to use it for editing/rendering/encoding/compressing videos, would this be a good build? I mainly use a program called handbrake and when I do the 1080p videos the fps is pretty low. This is my current build, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/EM2Rob/saved/2pvw

Also is the kraken better then the corsair h110? Thanks for any info.

Unless you are doing some extreme overclocking I really don't think you will need the difference between the Kraken and the h110. I have the h100i and can hit 5.0 Ghz comfortably so unless you plan on going further from there you really don't need much more performance than the h110 will provide. As for the rest of your system; you video card is probably the bottleneck. I'm no expert but it looks as though handbrake (based on some quick research) does not support CUDA, it does however support OpenCL. AMD cards are generally better with OpenCl so if you were to upgrade the GPU that'd probably be the way to go.

Unfortunatly my US partpicker does not seem to work at the moment.

But some base things that i would recommend for your new build. Depending on your budget.

  1. FX8350
  2. Asus R9-290 Direct CUII 4GB/OC
  3. NZXT Krakan X60 is a good choice, But H100i with some aftermarket fans is not bad either.
  4. Asus crosshair V Formula Z if you want the best. Also the Asus 990Fx Sabertooth R2.0 will be a good choice.

Grtz Angel ☺

Most people choose the Corsair H100i over the NZXT Kraken X60 because the Kraken won't fit in their case... it's huge... however, it IS one of the best coolers on the market for overclocking, more effective than the H100i... it's debatable whether one can fit in a Fractal Design Define R4, which is a large mid-size case... so make sure the case has room for it... I would recommend it over the Corsair if it fits, yes.

^- I'd build that

Only get the kraken if you are cool with noisy fans or are willing to spend another 30-100 dollars to make it perform well both in temps and acoustics. That said I don't have any first hand experience with the h100i to say if it is better as a out of the box solution. All I can say is that I have the kraken x40 and if I didn't already have a couple noctua fans and some better thermal paste I would seriously regret that purchase.

H100i stock fans are terrible aswell.

i had the same dillema, i choosed for a bad ass aircooler. still not regret that choice, its more quiet, no risk of pump failures no wining noice etc etc.
