AMD FX-4100 vs Phenom xii 945 BE

I am building a budget gaming rig, and gaoing to be playing games at around 720p (I'm using my tv as a monitor).

I've read that the Phenom is a great cpu, but it seems a little outdated. Is the FX-4100 a better way to go?

Also, if anyone could reccomend another good am3/am3+ cpu for around $100 that would be great.

Go with the phenom its what I always reccomend for a build like that but make shure to get a am3/am3+ motherboard so you can upgrade to a better processor later on!

The 965 is a better buy than the 4100 unless you can make that FX cpu scream with clock speeds. The phenom costs less so its a more for your money when going budget compared to the Bulldozer 4core variant. The 4300 is the one thats better, not 4100.
