Yes the FX6300 will match the i3 at stock clocks, and when you OC the FX6300 it just walks away. It is a proper good cpu, over here in the states the prices are closer (i3 vs fx6300)
Just researched abit in the 6300, I am actually very much so leaning towards getting that instead..
Thanks everyone, but just to make sure, and a few more questions, overclocking on an AMD CPU like the 6300 is easy right, even for someone like me with no experience whatsoever.. Plus when I do overclock it, is it really necessary to add a cooler, as I'm very reluctant, maybe even unable, to spend any more than I already am.. And also, a side note, is it better to have a higher clock speed, or core count?
Yes overclocking the FX6300 is definitely easy to do, yes you need to add a proper cooler to take advantage of it. A Hyper TX3 or Hyper 212 EVO will do very well, and they are fairly cheap as well. It is ok if you cannot afford it right now, you will not be needing to OC it at all to max out your games. In the future hopefully you have a few dollars saved and can purchase a cooler to start your OC journey.
Higher clock speed cores in gaming is a better deal then more cores.
Hmm, I see, I apologise for dragging this on for so long, but there are just so many questions I have that are getting and digging my head in.. just interested, but would you guys happen to know this game called Planetside 2? If so, what CPU would you recommend, as that game is my main focus at the moment..
The FX6300 would do more then fine for that game for sure, it is always good to ask questions. Just write them down and we can answer them the best we can for you.
Its just, Intel or AMD, Intel or AMD, all the pros and cons are all over the place, and everyone says this is good, this is bad, then vice versa, and its really hard to decide which one will be the best option, while at the same time keeping the budget in mind..
