Amd epyc 9005 series SP5 single slot or dual slot motherboard suggestion?

Okay I just hooked up the VGA monitor and still no input signal, I think i need to update the bios but there is no way to boot into bios or ipmi to run the update…

maybe your CPU is not supported, that’s an OEM CPU could be that you need to ask Supermicro what’s going on. Or try to ask @wendell maybe he knows more

IPMI works without CPU and you can also update your Bios.
What did you try to get the address?

But I think you need a License to unlock the Bios Upgrade function, ask google " Reverse Engineering Supermicro IPMI"

The IPMI function is completely separate from your board, it’s basically a small server for monitoring your system

So I tried everything… from connecting to the ipmi mode, its already on latest version of bios. Reached out to Supermicro technical support and then I decided to remove heatsink to check on the cpu, but its stuck to the cpu and not even budge no matter how hard I tried to yank it out. So I looked up how to remove the heatsink and found out I never tightened the 2 top screws on the heatsink, so I tightened all the screws again and … voila IT BOOTED UP! I tried to install Win 10,11 iot ltsc and only Windows Server 2025 came though, I also found out the wifi pcie card is garbage both wifi 6e and 7 version. I plugged in my old wifi usb 4 and everything runs perfectly without installing anything extra. And is there any software that can track temperature, clock speed of the cpu. Because hwinfo and others dont really run on this os, only one works but only shows the utilization percentage of the cpu, and how can I hardcoded the fan speed to bios or best just software fan control to set it. I will update more on my progress when I receive more ram and gpu.

Tldr: I tried everything: IPMI worked, BIOS was up to date, but the system wouldn’t boot. Turns out I never tightened the top two screws on the heatsink. After securing them, it booted up fine. Only Windows Server 2025 installed successfully (Win 10/11 LTSC didn’t). My Wi-Fi PCIe card was useless, but an old USB Wi-Fi 4 dongle worked perfectly. Looking for software to monitor CPU temps/clocks, since HWInfo doesn’t work. Also want to control fan speed via BIOS or software. More updates coming once I get more RAM and GPU.
