AMD CPU help

Okay so, I have an Asus F2A55M mobo, and I am looking to upgrade fully.
I have asked this question on another forum that shall not be named lol, and it turned into the normal argument that pretty much never answered my question with good reason.
But I digress, I have been going between the AMD 760k and the AMD 6800k.
I'd like to know which one y'all suggest and why.

Thank y'all and much love c:

Hello @mistahj
Not had my first mug of tea (sometimes coffee) this morning and am still waking up! :O) However, I did a quick google..... Point your browser here! http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-Athlon-X4-760K-vs-AMD-A10-6800K
Hope that helps?!!!
Cheers and have a great day!!! :O)

Thank you very much!

This was my first post here on the Tek Syndicate forums and it has definitely been worth it!

The 760K is just a 6800k without the integrated graphics. Spec wise they are identical, minus the graphics of course. If you wish to save money you can grab the 760K. Then get a dedicated graphics card. (you're going to need it since you have no graphics with this CPU). Or you can grab the 6800K.

Personally i would grab the 760K. If you are building a Gaming PC, chances are you aren't going to use the integrated graphics anyways. Or if you are on an extreme budget and you need a graphics card. the 6800K will do fine as well with that motherboard.

Hmmm I do have an R9 270x.
So either way I'd be decent?

"...I am looking to upgrade fully." What exactly do you mean by this? And what kind of budget do you have?

If you want to "upgrade fully" and you are ok with AMD or simply don't have the money for an Intel, go with the FX platform. From my understanding, the FX platform will immediately get better gaming performance than the FM2 (please, someone who knows the FM2 platform better than I do, confirm or disprove this and explain why for the OP).

This is more expensive, of course, as you have to buy a new, AM3+ motherboard. What I would recommend is the FX-6300, which you can easily overclock to 4.5GHz and get quite a bit of power out of a cheap chip. This depends on the motherboard, of course. If you had the money for the FX-8350 and a mobo that could support an overclock on it... then we're getting into territory where you might want to start considering an i5 CPU instead of AMD (again, all depends on what you're doing).

However, I guess the first thing I should be asking is... upgrade from what? You said you had that Asus board but didn't mention the CPU.

Yes. The CPU's are identical. You can save money by grabbing the 760K. Cause you won't need and won't use the integrated graphics, since you have the 270X

Lol I'm so very sorry, I currently have a 6700.

And by "upgrade fully" I really mean upgrade the CPU for this particular board, and then its on to the next build lol.

Well... if you are sticking with this mobo and just upgrading the CPU, you don't have a lot of options. The FM2 line isn't exactly a high-performance potential platform, other than a few like the 760K (There's a few like the 5800K, but it's an APU).

If money is an issue (goodness knows, it is for me lol) then stick with the FM2 board and go for the 760K
About to have mug of tea #2

I agree completely. If you are sticking to FM2, just get the 760K and worry about a completely new build later on.

If memory serves me right, doesn't cpu boss use bad benchmarks or something, i thought someone posted that on a thread awhile back...Anyways that's off topic, the 760k is great as long as you have another gpu as the 760k is NOT an APU meaning that it does not have an iGPU. Also if you can I would look for the 860k. No too much of a performance improvement, but it does have some IPC improvements over the 760k. But then again you could probably find the 760k for cheaper.

The 760k and 6800k are both are quad-core AMD 32nm parts that should have similar headroom when overclocking (less on the 6800k). The only question is whether you want the integrated graphics or not, in this case your graphics card (the 270x) is present so there is no reason to pick up the 6800k APU. The 860k has also come up in discussion: the 860k is a marginal improvement but it's only a tick more expensive, I recommend upgrading to that CPU.

Just one last thing before I have my mug of tea (I'm British.. we do this! LOL!) is regarding the money issue. Take me for example. My next build will be running an A4 4000 on a Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2 mobo. Will it be a fast and powerful system? Nope! But it will be just fine for my studying and I will be able to upgrade a bit. I am planning a fast and powerful build in the next year or so.... when I have the money!!! LOL! ;O)
Have a great day everyone!!! :O) Sips tea!
