AMD build vs. Intel build

Trying to get a really good overclock and play intense games silently.

AMD:

Intel:

Keep in mind the Intel build is more expensive...

Both should perform pretty well.  The FX-8320 will be weaker, but you can always overclock it as that motherboard and H100i can handle overclocking pretty well.

The Intel can also be overclocked, but usually not as far.

Both builds are good. i feel the build with the AMD CPU chip will be much weaker as "some tech noob" said.

From what I've read and looked at with these two CPUs, the Intel build is going to be superior in most scenarios, even after overclocking. The difference may not be noticeable in every day tasks that don't stress the system, but when running resource intensive activities, the Intel provides a more stable and higher level of performance.

So all vote for Intel? I guess im not getting the h100i after all :(

Since you list low noise as an important factor I would lean towards the more easily cooled Intel option but recommend a different case. Something like the Fractal Design Define R4 would be able to contain a lot more of the sound that the parts are producing, compared to such an open case as in the build list.

Do not doubt the silence of the noctua cooler.

If you can get it, the Noctua NH-D14 performs almost as well.

4670k > 8320....unarguably

I'd chose the 4670k over a 8350 as well (proud owner of a 8350 btw) because it's simply better.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen 5 people all line up to agree the i5 is better than the 8320... ever...

which, I mean, it is unless you're streaming or video processing... but still... amazing! :)

Save yourself from fps drops and get intel

Also visually it will be great. gj

Just watch this

You can get 1866 cas 9 g skill for the same price as the ram you're getting. The ripjaws x series are on sale for $10 off from newegg.

intel because intel is just better for everything.

I have a question. If the Intel is a quad core running at 3.4 GHZ and the AMD is a octa-core running at 3.5 GHZ, Would the AMD be more powerful?I very well might be wrong though.I am a little confused as to how this works, I guess.

No. The Intel is going to do better in all games. Don't let anyone tell you that the AMD is better for streaming, it is not. Especially if you are taking advantage of QuickSync with Intel.

To be fair it did compete better against the last gen i5 than it does against the new i5.

Pretty much this, save maybe for games that competently use all 8 thread but those are very few. Both would serve you well but unless you are trying to save money go intel.

It is very complicated, and you would need to get into the basics of CPU architecture to understand the differences.

GHz just refer to the amount of cycles per second, but some architecture might getting more out of each cycle, so it is hard to determine the performance just by the GHz.

I could go in depth.

^this

Basically, don't compare CPU clock speeds, especially when they are using different architectures.
