AMD and 3TB HDD issues

Hello guys, my friend bought himself a new 3TB HDD on his "latest" AMD architecture, he has an ASUS motherboard from 2012.

He tried to install Windows onto it, but any time he launches the setup from the DVD drive, the installation just get stuck and won't let him proceed (it does not freeze) but when he tries it on Intel Platform (Intel Pentium from 2002, actually) it works!

I wondering what's wrong with the AMD platform here (it looks like AMD motherboard/BIOS is not capable to handle it properly)... so the question is: any ideas?

Update bios. Older bios's had a limit on HDD size that capped out at 2tb per install drive. What's the motherboard specifically? You'll want to go to the manufacture website and follow their specific instructions.

also make sure you are using 64 bit os not 32 bit. 32 bit can not drives bigger then 2tb.

Will do.
@fredrich_nietze he is running 16GB of RAM in Windows 7 ;)

Well he tried to download the latest BIOS but this issue occurs: "PI mismatch. Critical damage might occur, we do not recommend flashing BIOS."

and this is his motherboard:

did you try the "ASRock 3TB+ Unlocker Utility ver:1.1.1"

Nope. I'll give it a try.

it's an 'ASUS' or AsRock mobo?

ASRock. Sorry for confusion.

Is the drive even recoginized in the bios in the first place?
