AMD am3+ mobo choice?

For gaming purposes what mobo should i chose?

m5a99x evo r2.0 102 eur

m5a99x pro r2.0 122 eur

sabertooth 990fx r2.0 140 eur

does the extra money get me anything?

rest of build: FX8320(OC) with PH14T cooler; R9 290 (non ref when it comes out); 2x8gb 1866 Vengence LP;

OCZ vector 3 120gb + 2x2 wd green in mirror; Corsair RM750.

well depending on ur needs, if you're going to overclock heavily with dual graphics, then the sabertooth.  If you're doing a mild overclock with dual graphics cards, then the pro.  IF you're doing mild overclock with single graphics then the evo.

Also if you you're going to pick up a sabertooth, look for the gen3 version, lil extra longevity with pci-e 3.0.

The Sabertooth is the best board offcourse with a 8+2 powerphase and digi vrm´s, on this board a higher stable overclock is suitable. but offcourse you also need the cooler for that.

The Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0  with 6+2 powerphase and digi vrm, also not a bad choice, can handle a decent overclock. But the sabertooth is better if you want to go extreme.

The Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 is the same board as the pro, the only diffrence is the amount of pci-e lanes availeble on the board, the evo does only have 20 pci-e 2.0 lanes availeble, that makes it not the best board, for dual gpu setups, because you will end up with a max X8 X8 setup, the M5A99FX pro however contains 40 pci-e 2.0 lanes, on this board you will be able to run a dual gpu setup at X16 X16.

Sabertooth contains everything. ☺

Don't think I will need crossfire with a r9 290? and I'd rather have a silent cool pc with a decent OC(not stock but no 5ghz+) somewhere around 4.2-4.5ghz.

I have the M5A99X EVO R2.0 with the Fx-8350, With the auto tuning feature I get a overclock of 4.4. Works well for me as a home Ae workstation.

the evo is not a bad choice if you totaly dont care about  CF.

Even the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 is a good choice if you never wanne go CF, this board also contains the same 6+2 powerphase and digi vrm. i own this board and it works fine, however i want to switch to a 990FX sabertooth board someday.

what about the psu? I have a good selection of seasonic psu's(XP2,RM,KM3) what wattage will be sufficient?

either Corsair RM or those SS..

eXtreme calculator says 550w.... soa ~650W.

600watt is a good size for just 1 GPU, but cautious because the 290 takes lots of power, I'd recommend a 700watt to have more headroom.

650W is more then enough for a single gpu setup. corsair RM HX series are good XFX pro´s, seasonic

Precisely why I chose it. I rather have one beefy GPU than 2.

Which one would you say is better

Seasonic ss-660XP2  ~145 euro

Super Flower Golden KING PRO SF-600P14PE ~ 133 euro

ENERMAX Platimax 600W 142 euro

These 3 are closer to me so I can RMA them if something goes wrong

Why do you wanne have such an expensive platinum psu? its not realy needed.

The selection isn't very good so its either gold/platinum or bronze and lower.

Between gold and platinum is like 20 euro difference and around 40+ for the lower bronze RADIMAX and LC PSU's. I'd rather get the 5+ years guarantee and give a bit more.

yeah i understand, i guess gold psu´s are cheaper aren´t they? but with a single gpu setup you would be also fine with a bronze certified psu, that doesn´t say much, as long as you buy a decent one. with a single 12V rail, would be ideal, with psu´s upto 650W

only if you plan on CF/sli and extreme overclocking, then i would recommend a gold certified psu.
