Amd 8350 oc help!

Hey guys,

I have a Gigiabye 990FXA-UD3 and 8350 cpu with H80 cooler. I'm trying to learn how to OC with the BIOS settings. I've tried to up the multiplier and increase the voltage to settings that I've seen other people get on the net, but I've had no luck. AMD Overdrive in Windows gets 4,7 stable OC.. Any tips?

PS - My goal would be to hit 5ghz

Well first off noy every chip is the same, so you may not be able to get to 5Ghz, with that being said if your at 4.7 without any LLC set you may be able to get there, youll find it in your bios, or since its a Gigabyte board youll have the 3D power program, and set you LLC to turbo or extreme, this will help stop the Vdroop which is the voltage dropping when you start using your CPU a lot, its especially bad when using the CPU at full load, so once you set that just start pushing the mulriplier then the voltage ect... until you either get to max safe voltage or the OC you want.

I'm not sure if my MB has "3d power program" ? When I go into bios it has the intelligent tweaker?

You know, when you post help in all caps with an exclamation point it gives the impression that your CPU has, quite literally, detonated in your case. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about OCing to help.

LOL, thanks for the heads up Jman! Sorry about the CAPS :P

When I get home tonight I'll be trying to tweak a few little things... I was going to post another thread about trouble OC'ing my XFX DD 7970 but I'll wait and try one more thing later...

Ok so that board doesent have the 3D power, but in the bios Under voltages you should see Load Line Calibration or LLC, and the higher you set it the less Vdroop you get and the more stable the OC (or the ability to get a higher OC)
