Amd 7945hx vs i9-13900HX in Linux

This post isn’t about performance for chips not released, but more so for overall usability in linux.

I currently use Ryzen 5800H in my laptops and make use of ryzen-controller to regulate my cpu temperatures to my personal preference.

I like using mobile, over-powered chips that I don’t need to push so I can regulate temperatures for a very quiet laptop experience even while gaming.

I currently do this using the Ryzen 5800h.

I also care about power efficiency which is an automatic win for AMD

AMD also win’s in having an open source app ryzen-controller to customize my experience.

Intel has great performance and might actually run cooler strangely, but I’m having trouble finding solid information on whether AMD or Intel is cooler in a laptop.

I plan on getting the AMD 7945HX, but just want to see if anyone might have good reason why I should try Intel.

From what I could find Intel does not have any open source cpu applications to regulating temperatures, power, clocks etc.

The only piece that has interested me is that Intel might run cooler in a laptop even though it pulls more power, but I haven’t found any strong evidence to back that.

The 5800H runs much hotter then both ampere gpu’s and rdn2 gpu’s.

What are your opinions? Stick to AMD or try Intel and why?
