Logan,
I know this is probably old news for people int he US of A but I haven't seen much mention of it around the web but you may have been through this thought process already.
Last week us Brits in sunny England got Amazon AutoRip and I logged in to see what they had automatically added to the Cloud player from previous purchases and was appalled to find songs from Maroon 5 in there! Yuk!
I had bought this as a present for my sis in like 2002 but as it was in my order history I now have the mp3's. Does this situation raise any legal issues? I don't know how it is in the US but im pretty sure that over here if you give something away as a gift you give up your ownership rights to it.
So the fact i dont own the original physical media surely should mean that I have no right to own the mp3 versions?
Given how aggressively the music industry like to hunt people down like dogs for illegally downloading songs do they not have a problem with Amazon's tactics? What's the legal difference between AutoRip and me converting the CD to mp3 before handing it over to my sis? (surely both bad)
There is probably some really simple answer and I have bored everyone on the forum but if its a more complex issue would love to hear some explanation on an Inbox show or something.
Keep up the good work everyone at Tek Syndicate.

P.S: Dude your sites CAPTCHA is the worst I have ever seen and it was really difficult for me as a dyslexic to sign up to the site!
