I'd like to build a new gaming rig and the platform for my AMD FX-8350 should be an AM3+ Motherboard. I'd like to pick one of the 990FX Range - maybe one of the 990X, but 990FX is top priority now.
The canditates are:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX Rev. 2.0
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z 990FX
Asrock 990 FX Extreme 3 (would be my budget pic)
What would you suggest? The ROG-Board is the one that bothers me the most - in a positive way. Is it worth the higher price in relation to the other boards? Problems with these, picky or easy to use? Overclocking will definitely be considered!
The gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 is probably the best value 990fx board out right now that I've seen. It has 8+2 phase power so it should be good for overclocking. It should be around $140 or so. It was cheaper a couple months ago though... I think prices have gone up for some reason.
Ok, I forgot Gigabyte here. In one of my two rigs a Gigabyte board is doing a great job, it's the GA-X58A-UD7. Can you guys tell me the main differences between 990X and 990FX?
I would have gone for the MSI 990FXA-GD80 personally.. i still use the old 790FX-GD70, been going solid for 3 years with a x4 4.2ghz OC on an unlocked x2 555 BE.
Most 990X boards have inferior power management and delivery systems to those of the 990 FX line.
Check out the ASRock Extreme9 990FX board, it's got a pretty slick setup.

The only complaint I would have to give just based off of specs and appearance, is the appearance. I'm not a huge fan of the slightly metallic yellow in a build. But if I got it, I would probably just respray it anyway.
There will be the "new" Asus Sabertooth 990FX Gen3 R2.0 up for grabs this month. PCIe 3.0 will be THE feature (as a matter of fact it'll be the first AM3+ Motherboard that actually supports it).
So I guess it'll all come down to either the new Sabertooth or the Crosshair Formula-Z.
