Am I the only one that does this?

I can't be the only one who does stupid crap like this, am I? If not I wanna know what yours are named!

I just name them after what model they are

That's a lot of memory!

Ignore the 2tb drive, it's had it's dozens of near-death episodes : )

I name them for what should be on them...

Damn you people have a lot of storage space. I only have a total of 1TB on my rig and I only use about 500GB of it.

It all started out with a 500gb drive for me. Suddenly needed more over the times. : p

2TB of what I have is anime and movies

+ alot of software, video projects, games etc.

Gonna be th assclown and say "NO".  Though I can't find any clever names that are relevant to "storage" or "data".  Also, still can't find ANY custom icons for drives that are not Mac'ish or ridiculous

Also, fun fact, ALT+PRTSCRN does a snap shot of JUST the selected window/message box.

edit: that's not all my drives, drive P is a hot swap SATA enclosure, which I swap out with any SATA drive I have laying around, currently it's my old and abused Seagate 320GB and 160GB.  I also have a 2.5" drive hot swap enclosure for any drive I have laying around, currently a Microsoft/Toshiba 120GB and a Toshiba 160GB.  And then there's the ancient ass USB Seagate 300GB, which is IDE based.

Why do you have so many games? Why not delete them once you're done playing them? I have 15+ games on steam, and only 5 installed, and all my priated games I uninstall after I'm done with them.

I'm ecletic, and randomly play/replay different things, get bored of one game, jump to another, go back to the game I was playing.  It's also a thing I've had going on for a while, and doing art, I like to replay certain games to get inspiration.

Also currently on a shit slow connection, so when I download something from Steam, I don't have the urge to uninstall after I'm done, that's why that drive is a 750 gig drive :)

That drive is also storage for all my older backed up games, all legit believe it or not, kept over from my Win 95/98 days, discs were getting badly scratched, so made proper rips of each disk.

I like your E drive. lol.

Thats a lot of freaking games, I have never even played half of the games I own on steam. I couldn't image having that many installed.

Local Disk (C:) is my Patriot Wildfire SSD and boot drive. The Information Vault is a WD Black RAID 0 array were I put all my documents, movies, steam games, and any other random information I need stored. The Backup Drive is an old Hitachi Deskstar where I manually save important files that I don't want to disappear forever.

It's also my storage for all my old games....legit rips :)

Hmm, RAID 0, I never trust that...

Don't know why. It's just as reliable as JBOD. Unless you're a RAID 1 fanatic, there's no reason not to trust RAID 0.

It's less secure than JBOD.

With a JBOD, you only lose the data on 1 drive.

With RAID 0, you lose ALL your data.

And yes, I'm a RAID 1/10/5/6 fanatic :P

Yeah, but if you have a JBOD as your boot drive with nothing backing it up, then you're going to lose all your data anyway if it fails. The only difference between JBOD and RAID 0 is that one has two or more drives and the other only has one. The only reason people say RAID 0 is less reliable is because of probability. When you buy more and more drives, you're going to get a bad one eventually. The more drives you add to a RAID 0 array, the more probable it is that you're going to get a bad drive.

From my experience, though, I've found that hard drives are usually the last thing in a computer to fail. I've only ever had one hard drive crap out on me, and that was after five or more years of use. It was also from a Gateway that was put together in 2000. Other than that I've never had a hard drive fail. It's extremely rare for hard drives to fail, especially in today's world.

I have seen tons of drives fail in the past 7 years.

Most of those are due to shocks, but I've had a few drives fail on me in my during normal use too. Last month, one of my OS drives died, lucky I'm running RAID 10, so I just had to swap a new one in.

Also, consumer level drives are not made to run in RAID, so that can give conflicts too. I've had countless drives just drop out of a RAID array for no reason, quite irritating to be woken up by a beeping RAID card at 3AM.
