Am I getting ripped off?

Hey everybody, I recently wanted to build a pc, so I finally made a build and started looking for dealers (here is the build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/DrewDarke/saved/2anZ) and I was willing to spend $1200.

So I found a local computer store run by a guy named Chad. I asked chad to give me a quote on this build. he said $1125 + tax without the monitor, assembling it for me and giving me a 3 warranty. I said I could only do $1075 tax included and he said sorry I can't do that. The build you requested is impossible to get under $1200, so he linked my a computer he had for sale. It's HIS personal gaming PC that he just isn't using very often anymore. He was looking for $1200 for it and I had a look into its specs.

He said he would give me the monitor he had with it for an additional $40 (its a medium quailty HP monitor) but anyways. I'm just wondering, I know it's a good build but should I be paying $1250 for that computer if its 3 years old? or should I look for my own parts.

Keep in mind I'm looking for a pc that is 75% gaming and 25% video editing. I would be willing to spend $1200 Canadian, with monitor, tax/shipping included. for games such as Bf3/4 Dayz/ Guild wars. Anyways, I'm thinking of going through with this Chad guy and buying this PC, but I don't know whether or not I should but it if it's 2 years old, a few people I know are sceptical (And there is nothing wrong with it, trust me.)

its worth maybe 800, build one yourself its really easy, if you can put together legos you can put together a computer

Twelve hundred bucks for that?!? It may have been a monster when it was new, but now, you could easily get a build with similar performance for much less. And build it yourself, it's not that hard. Seriously, a ten year old could do it.

Is that what you quoted me on giga?

and I say the average high end build is just as difficult as the lego Millenium Falcon. Even if you have never worked with legos, it it still really easy, and well worth it

Can you guys build me something on PC partpicker or something that is 75% gaming and 25% video editing. I would be willing to spend $1200 Canadian, with monitor, tax/shipping included. for games such as Bf3/4 Dayz/ Guild wars. I'm just really looking for a good PC by the end of august.

a modification of my own build

Comes to $1402 Canadian, sorry if you misread, but I said tax included, tax is 13%

thinking closer to this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1sOwz

give me your area code for shipping and I'll make you a custom list, not something some program throws up

I'll give you it over steam, Don't really find it appealing to post it on a public forum. Sent you a request from Jedi_Bacon

huh? tax? in an online order?

nonono not address just area code like mine 44057 for madison ohio, but that's fine too, I'll be on in a sec

also I assume you're not going to overclock right

canada is an awesome country to live in if you can afford it

-_- steam y u no let me add people. Area code is a canadian one so it will look funny to you, here it is [P0B1A0]

I am in Vancouver that last build is pretty close to mine (different mobo ) but I will tell you it games great.(thanks giga for the O.C. tips)

$1200.. no dont do it. Decent enough rig though. Maybe 600-700 would be a fairer amount for him to ask for since there wont be much warranty left on anything.

includes monitor and o/s.

Ya but he wants 1200 after 13% tax so more like 1050ish

all these builds around 1200 you guys are giving me are actually 1400 dollar builds. tax is %13 no matter where your buying in canada, so thats $130 for every $1000.

And I hear the USA is nice, if you don't go bankrupt because you need to go see a doctor...

prev post for deejeta i like the last build you posted and yaaa dont by that use pc Giga will put you something together mabey just tell him you prov. it will be a newegg build, I am lucky I can go to ncix stores.
