Almost ready to order, one final lookover please?

Thank you for all the help so far.  I'm almost ready to order but would like a final lookover.  Would it be possible to use the copy of windows 7 on my current ssd?  It's not a ssd from an OEM nor is it the windows copy from the OEM.  (It's the Crucial M4, I'd like to reuse it to keep costs a little lower)

Had bit the bullet on the Fractal R4 though, it was for $88 shipped from NCIX.  Leaves room for future builds and I love the look.

Is the ASRock 970 compatible with the AMD 6300 out of the box?  I have no experience flashing memory.

DO NOT try to migrate your OS to new hardware, the drivers interfere with each other and will make your life a nightmare. As for overclocking, you will be able to get a decent overclock on this setup, and you could get even more if you upgrade to watercooling in the future

:P using my build on the other post I see.

imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :)

Thanks for the tip about the OS, I still have the Windows CD but I don't mind doing a clean installation of it.  Would that do away with the large cost on an os? (Is it even possible?)

What decisions made you guys go with MSI instead of Asrock 970 Extreme or Gigabyte GA 970A?  I've read a few things hinting away from MSI with the 6300 but it might've been solved since they've been posted.  Do any of the three support the 6300 out of the box?  I have no experience flashing anything.

I might raise the budget a bit since I bought the Fractal R4.  I'd most likely stay away from watercooling until my cats become tamer... they like pipes, plastic and anything that fits in their mouths.

In my opinion, get a cheaper case ($40) and get the HD 7870 XT version.

The HD 7870 XT edition is much better than an HD 7870

id grab a Plexor M5s 128Gb SSD, its only 95$ and is faster than the Crucial M4.

I'm fairly sure you can install windows on your new machine as long as it's not an OEM copy. just be sure to delete everything on your old ssd first The only real reason I would reccomend the MSI over the other boards is that I own one myself, and it has worked fine for me. If you plan to push the limit in terms of overclocking, the gigabyte might be a better bet. all 3 will support the fx 6300 as far as i know.

Good luck with your build

I should've mentioned that I already have the M4 in my current pc and wanted to port it over.  Thanks for the advice on the OS, now I just gotta make space on that ancient external..
