All Hail the DEAL TRAIN! R9-290 for $290

Mah Goodness Why Is i Don't haz Enough :(

Actually they should make 290x $340 and 290 $280. 970 and r9 290x go hand and hand.

F that, I got a 290 for $420 31 days or so ago

Price for technology. My 7970's was worth $320 a year ago and now I can't get $160 for them. Just have to write off as all of us do.

Time to Grab Another one Just cause Fuck Everything It's Almost Half the Price You got it for lol

HOLY SHIT THE DEALZ!!!

It's ok, I bought my 770 for $215 1 week before the 970 came out... I cried..

See as how the 970 performs better than the 290, doesn't cost much more, runs a lot cooler, and uses less power, I am not sure that this is even that great of a deal from a price:performance stand point.

yeah but if people have a preference for AMD which Some people do it's good they can get it for Dirt Cheap. Shit even grab 2 for the price of a GTX 980.

AMD definitely has plenty of merits such as Mantle, Freesync (which adds like $20 dollars to a monitor as opposed to ~$200 for Gsync), True Audio, and most importantly, it isn't nVdia.

Each option has its own merits.

well it depends allot on the res you play realy. @1080p the GTX970 performs better in most games. But on 1440p the diffrences aren´t that big.

Also most tests online are done in direct X11, and not in mantle for the 290, that makes also sense in some games. especialy with a weaker cpu. also allot of tests are done against a reference 290, so probably used older numbers in theire graphs also makes sense.

290 can still be a good deal. especialy if the price drops even more.

I saw a german site that had a stunt with the Powercoler 290 pcs+ + 3 free games for only €269,- that was realy a steal. cheapest GTX970 was arround €50 more without free games so yeah.

No thanks! Not when the 970 is $330!

290 with free games at $250 would be a deal. I'd still purchase 970 on water with bios hack for $100 more.

and I have a fully build AMD rig. Maxwell is just to good to look pass imo.

Yeah Maxwell Actually Looks Pretty Good But I'm Really Curious How AMD plans to Compete with these Cards. cause the prices are WAAY TOO Aggressive.

As for the CPU side I'm going to Stick with my 4670k Until AMD drops The FX Zen Chips. Well Actually I take that back if I See a Balls to the Walls FX Chip with a High performance mATX board I'm Jumping Ship Quick. thats all i wanted with the Current FX chips but the mATX motherboard Selections were just ass. if not I might just jump on Socket 2011 and Stick with a 5820k for a couple of years so i don't have to worry about performance.

Samsung should make a decent AMD chip, but I'm rocking 4.8GHZ 8350 till my window system rating gives me a 6 or lower.

Meh, used xfx 290's with lifetime warranty's (retired miners) were being sold for $250 on OCN 6 months ago. They even came with the original box and accessories! Not really impressed with neweggs prices.

Got a Coupon code from newegg today in my email for 100 bucks off an XFX R9 290x making it 399 with 3 decent games.  "EXLWPPD26"
