Alienware custom build

Case: aurora r3

Motherboard: included alienware 46MHW

CPU: i5-2550k?

GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition

PSU: Included Dell 875w J556T , any good?

Ram: 2x4 so i can upgrade to 16gb if i need to. any suggestions?

Storage: already have a 1tb and an ssd.

To avoid any misunderstandings im building this myself not having one put togheter by alienware.

Ive heard the motherboard only supports sandy bridge socket 1155, but ive also heard something about the p67 chipset wich the motherboard is using supporting ivy bridge, anyone know anything about that? if it only supports sandy bridge, would the i5-2550k be the best choice for gaming?

Ive also been considering just getting an asus v gene motherboard, but after doing some reasearch ive not heard of anyone being able to get the lights working with another motherboard, anyone got some experience?

Protip, take an hour to learn how to build a PC. Pick out the exact parts you want on newegg, you can ask us, we love to help. Order those parts. Put the computer together yourself. Feel good about yourself. And feel good about the money you saved. ;)

Ive already buildt 1 computer and it went pretty smoothly ;) and im only ordering from norwegian sellers (exept for the case/mobo/psu combo) because the customs is a bitch. Im new to intel, only choosing it over amd because of M-atx form factor of the case.

Then I suggest getting a z68 or z77 motherboard. I have a P67, got it right about when Z68 was coming out. The newer chipsets overall just have some good features.

did you already buy the alienware? and you can do a bios update to support ivy bridge chips but you need a sandy chip in to do it

no im hoping to scrape up enough money before its sould out, new ones are pretty rare. That kinda sucks cause i dont have one laying around or someone i could borrow one from :/

don't buy it and build custom it will be way faster and cheaper

tell me how much the Alienware would cost and what is your overall budget, in whatever norway uses as currency becuase that's what I'm going by on the sites

Well then i guess the Asus Maximus v gene z77 would be a good choice. But i really want those awesome lights to work :/

well, if you consider 375$ for for case, mobo and 875w psu to be expensive....

EDIT: kinda didnt explain myself to well, i am building it myself ;)

no idea what kind of PSU but the mobo is only worth around 60$, and I wouldn't spend over 100$ on a case here anyway depends on what kind of selection

and I need a budget in norwegean money or what ever the numbers on here are used

true, but still a case not normally purchaseable (if thats even a word). pretty rare to find new ones for sale.

btw, i dont know if the included psu has good quality but psus around 850 watt is atleast 230$ usd in norway.

Budget would be around 8000 NOK.

EDIT: you will find a better selection here http://www.prisguide.no/ its a norwegian price guide

http://www.prisguide.no/produkt/fractal-design-arc-midi-150829

according to the calc thats like 20 bucks US, which it cost like 100 over here

that is an extremely good case

I'll make you a budget build for you and you can decide which is better

its actually 94$ the first two is just the side panel. sure ty :) but im off, school in 7 hours....

okay I'm kinda winging it, I know the parts and compatibility I just can't read norwegian

but its not my first rodeo at making a computer in a language I don't understand haha

Thx, might actually go with something like that, just amd gpu, my older 650w psu and different case
