After MUCH debate... I've made my order

After reading and reading and reading, and MUCH youtube watching (thank you Wendell and Logan!) I've put together my first "real" network. I've been researching a home network and NAS setup for the better part of three months now. I began ordering parts last week, and today I did the bulk, and hopefully the last of it. I'm sure I'm going to need help along the way as networking is my biggest weakness, so I'm hoping to keep this thread as a running build log for my network. If no one minds, I'll post pics along the way as well. So with the rambling out of the way, here are the parts I have already;

- Chief 6U wall mounted Rack

- Trendnet 24 port cat6 patch panel

- CyberPower 1U power distribution/surge protector

- Shelf for the bottom of the rack.

- Netgear R7000 with DD-wrt

Now on to the list of parts that I've ordered, and are on their way to my house as I type this;

Freenas build: Asrock C2750D4i, 16gb Kingston ECC ram, Seasonic 400watt fanless PSU. I will be housing the setup in my Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. I currently have 6x 3tb Seagate drives I will be using.

Network Gear: Netgate APU4 (red chassis), Ubiquiti UAP, Dell 5424 24port managed switch, Motorola SB6121 Cable Modem, wireless card for the wife's computer.

I'm slightly nervous. My current experience with networking has really been, buy a router and plug my PC's in. However, I became extremely interested in FreeNAS, and along the way really fell in love with what people were doing in their homes for a network. I decided it was time for my to make a more robust, secure network within my home. I have NUMEROUS machines and devices that will utilize the setup, so it makes sense to do a proper network. Anyway, that's it for now. I do have some pics of the rack setup thus far that I will try and post tomorrow.
