Hey I am wanting to build something for gaming and music/video editing (ableton live, after effects, premiere pro, maya). I am looking to spend around $2000.

For productivity, the FX-8350 will perform a lot better than the i5, and similar to an i7 due to its 8 cores.

You could downgrade the PSU and get 1 GPU if you don't want to spend so much money.
