Advice needed on CPU for first ever build

Here's my build:

CPU: AMD FX8350/ Intel Core i5 3570K

Motherboard:Asus M5A78L-M LX/Asus P8H61-M LX R2.0

Memory: G-Skill RipJawX 1866MHz CL9 8GB

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 64MB

Video Card: XFX 7870 2GB GDDR5 1Ghz

Case: CM Elite 344 w/USB3.0 (MATX)/Fractal Design Core 1000 (MATX)

PSU: Seasonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified

Hey guys, I'm kinda on a tight budget and I'm stuck on what CPU to choose. Both are pretty expensive here in Singapore, the motherboard CPU combo for the 8350 ($399 SGD) is actually $19 more expensive than the i5 ($380 SGD) due to the better motherboard. I'm considering an FX6300 instead, which will cost me $260 SGD, is it a good idea in terms of gaming prowess/photography editing and long term investment wise?

P.S I already bought the 7870 from Amazon and it's on it's way to me, it cost me $366 SGD.

Also, this is my first post, so hey!

The H61 chipset motherboard for Intel has no overclocking features available (from what Ive read) so you wouldn't even be able to overclock your Unlocked cpu. So I would definitely lean towards the available AMD option in your case. The 8350 is good but the 6300 is no slouch either. IF you were doing hardcore video editing instead I would have to suggest the 8-core but the 6-core will be more than sufficient for photography editing (and gaming too of course). The 3570k is good and all but the motherboard it's paired with is definitely not up to snuff compared to your AMD options over there.

I definitely agree about the motherboard paired with the 3570k, but that's like the cheapest bundle I could get. I'm definitely leaning towards the AMD option. But it's weird how my country almost always sides Intel on everything, it's impossible to find an AMD Phenom II x4 965 anymore. And most shops don't deal AMD CPUs, it's annoying. The fanboyism for Intel here is ridiculous.

For my needs, gaming and photography I've read reviews on the 8350 and of course Logan's videos, and it seems really awesome. But it's kinda over budget for me. So will the FX6300 do as well for gaming? And can last me like how the AMD Phenom II x4 955/965 can be still that good even now.

Thanks for your input!

The 6300 is a great cpu for gaming.

Just a question, the FX series are all by default black editions right? Cause I finally found a AMD Phenom II x4 965 CPU with the ASUS M5A78L-M LX motherboard combo for $220 SGD compared to a FX6300 combo which is $261 SGD. So do I get the 965 or FX6300 cause the FX8350 is way out of my budget now.

Oh yeah guys, will a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO fit into this system?
