Advice for a homelab starter server

Just to give you a few extra ideas on what you can put together to create a homelab, mine consist of:
Two old Dell Latitudes E6530 w/ ESXi, a NAS, and like three RPis all on the same UPS.

Have you considered using a Ryzen 3/5 option? I have been considering building a server for over a year now and just have not been able to make up my mind. Something like a Ryzen 5 2600 16GB ram and a decent mobo wouldnt be a bad option IMO

I would only use it as a NAS, and for some VMs, do i need something enterprise?

I have as my main rig a Ryzen 3 2200G, and 8Gb RAM, i could upgrade my main rig (Motherboard, CPU, RAM) and use it or another option would be getting a new motherboard, CPU, RAM like a what you say, but also i could go for a Xeon and mod it

I’ve already told you multiple times, as have others. A ryzen setup, first or second gen, possibly used would be a good way to go.
