AdsKeeper ... how do I get rid of this!?!?!? I did what was supposedly a fresh installation of Windows 7 64 bit OS and somehow I still have this AdsKeeper annoyance on my pc. I don't know what keeps letting it onto my pc but I want it gone. I will give a financial and key giveaway for help with this. I am tired, stressed, anxious and would really like to go back to sleep again but I have been dealing with this pc trying to get it right and it isn't.
Update: I got rid of it supposedly but another ad annoyance showed up and now AdsKeeper is back! I am going crazy here with this. I have checked MSN news page to test if I have removed it because if it isn't gone it covers up the part where you try to see comments or make them. It does it on other sites too.
Update 2: Sorry Tek Syndicate but I had to use AdBlock Plus as nothing would work and I had been at this for hours trying to get rid of AdsKeeper. Btw it looks like it is something new as every post about it in my searches show articles that are 2 or 3 days old talking about how to get rid of it. I hope that someone comes out with something so I don't block you guys from making money off me viewing your content. :S
@Skelterz yeah continuing from our conversation about what is going on with this all when I just did what you said and allowed Google to remove whatever was causing other programs not to work it unchecked AdBlock Plus. LOL! I just tested it by going to a page and it showed an ad over the captcha I wanted to check. :S
AdsKeeper is pure evil! I hope someone works on a standalone removal app for it.
Guys we have tried everything getting help here and in the The Lounge. Seriously someone who specifically works on removing specific viruses needs to work on a fix for this. AdsKeeper is the AIDS of the virus world I think.
So right now with AdBlock Plus on I can do everything on the website but since it does nothing for software Steam is still screwed up for me.
@Dexter_Kane xter_Kane I have tried everything that I have seen thus far including stuff people recommended in The Lounge and nothing is working.
Also .. you would think a low level format of my hard drives would solve the problem but nope. LOL! Minimal installs and it still was causing a mess without AdBlock Plus.
Very upset here as I can't use Steam properly and likely won't be able to use any other software properly either that has message boards and multiple store pages and so on. :S
@Dexter_Kane it happened even when just the basics were installed and I could connect to the internet with a browser.
This thing reminds me of the horrible thing I had to deal with once where it attached itself to all the photo files my son's stepmom had and they are now backed up on dvds in case they ever find a solution to unlock them. I saw some news on that about a year ago and there was progress but not every file type could be unlocked. :S That thing was AIDS and so is this.
@Dexter_Kane I did that. I did a low level format before and it didn't work. Both drives were wiped clean. Honestly the only thing I can think of is the shady OS I have allowed it to happen but it didn't before when I installed it. I have used the dvd many times.
Well it has to be something that you're doing after you're installing it. Either there's something wrong with your install media, the software you're installing or some website you're going to.
@Dexter_Kane well what I can tell from what I've seen this virus or adware is something new and so this may not be any of my doing at all. Seriously tell me how doing a low level format on both drives and installing proper drivers from legit sites and from files from legit sites I burned to dvd (Gigabyte mobo drivers) and then using the IE browser to to go MSN News and see if the problem is there is doing something too much that directly can be blamed on me for this thing going hog wild on my pc?
