Adobe Premiere and Ultilizing OpenCL (Edit: Need Further Assistance)

Hey guys,

So I recently switched to an r9 280x from gtx560. In Premiere cs6 I was able to have my GPU do all the rendering which saved me a great deal of time on videos. So I was wondering how I can add my new GPU to the "opencl_supported_cards" list. I have tried different names for the card, but I cannot get Premiere to recognize it for me to chose the GPU as an option instead of that damned "Mercury Playback software only"  for rendering.

Please look down at my other post for further information

It should have accepted GeForce GTX 560. However it might also be that you need to add your card to the supported CUDA list instead.

Yeah, I was able to get it to accept the 560 but I upgraded to an r9 280x, and can't figure out how to get it to be accepted in the opencl list

It's been a week of looking across the internet, so this is just a bump.

You have to use GPU sniffer.

  • Open command prompt
  • Navigate to your premiere folder
  • Type "gpusniffer.exe"
  • It will spit out a ton of stuff, but you will find the name of your GPU
  • Use that in the openCL list

Thanks Logan! Much appreciated.

Help still needed apparently.

Okay so despite being an idiot with command prompt, I was finally able to get GPUSniffer to work after finally seeing Logan do everything on the INBOX.EXE.

So GPUSniffer did not work correctly for me. Here is what I get in command prompt:

I:\Premiere\Adobe Premiere Pro CS6>gpusniffer.exe

Did not find any devices that support GPU computation

I put the name of the card exactly as shown in command prompt into the opencl_supported_cards" list but it did not work. I also tried it without the word "series" at the end. Nothing worked. I, also, could not find anything online again using some of the terminology taken from the command prompt.

Again if anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I doubt anyone will be able to help me, but here's a bump.

Tahiti is the codename for our GPU. I have the sapphire 280x vapor-x. It should already be in there. Below is what is in my opencl_supported_cards.txt from Premiere CC. Scrubbing and palayback is flawless

Bonaire
Capeverde
Cayman
Devastator
Hawaii

Oland
Pitcairn
Tahiti
Turks
Spectre

Intel Iris Graphics 5100
Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200

This is what i get out of GPUSniffer. Make sure AMD Catalyst is installed properly. I disable catalyst from startup though since heavy loading and It not neccesary once you apply any settings if any.
