I currently have a 2x4GB kit of corsair RAM
I'm starting to do some more RAM intensive applications so I was wondering about an upgrade.
If I purchased another kit of the same ram and used it to populate the remaining slots would it function correctly?
It would just be more economical than buying a 4x4gb kit or 2x8gb kit and attempting to sell my other RAM.
Thoughts?
If you are planning to oc ram using xmp profiles there is a chance it will not work and manual oc and tuning is needed . If you plan to run it stock there shouln`t be any problems .Just remove old sticks and run memtest on new sticks to make sure they are not faulty. This way you can avoid any file corruption BSODs in future.
Just get whatever RAM is cheapest and throw it into the extra slots, though getting a single stick of 8gb would be more preferable for any further future upgrades.
you could just put 2x8GB of the same ram's you got right now.
Then you will have 24GB of ram instead of 32GB not a big deal right?
