Adding Mayhem UV Clear blue to brand new Swiftech H220 x2 Prestige edition - Biocide required?

Hello everyone!

For my new build I want to take my modest first steps into water cooling territory and I have done this by ordering the highly recommended H220 X2 prestige edition. The improved fittings seduced me into buying the prestige edition for potential easier expansion later down the line.

The H220 X2 ( http://www.swiftech.com/h220x2prestige.aspx#tab1 ) comes with 3 Mayhem dyes (red, blue & green) and has a '3 years no maintenance' claim on the website. However I'm planning on combining the blue dye with another dye from Mayhem (the UV dye clear blue https://mayhems.co.uk/dyes/standard-dyes/uv-clear-blue-... ) and on the product page it warns that a biocide would be required.

My question to you: do I need to add something other than the two dyes to the pre-filed coolant that's already inside the H220 x2 prestige to avoid problems with algea etc. ? Or in other words, can I assume that the pre-filled liquid most contain some kind of biocide, if they allow you to just add one of the dyes without any issues.

Secondly: would the addition of the UV dye require more frequent maintenance than the "3 years no maintenance" claim?

Thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom/experience!

Kind regards,

The only way to know and how I do it is with the pH stripes that come for example with the Mayhems Biocide.

On mine last build I used plenty of dyes to achieve the right color so I had to use Biocide, even coming from Mayhems Pastel White as "base" fluid.

The fluid already on the kit should be ok for some drops of UV. I will say more that 10/12 you should take care.
