Adding a graphics card and new case

Hello Isaac here and i was planning on getting a NVIDIA gtx 550 ti for my computer. I got my computer in Feburary of 2012 it is an Hp pavilion p7-1154. I thought of getting a new case along with my graphics card will it work if i remover my computers hardware from my Hp case into a new case aswell as putting in a new graphics card?

Hello Issac

I came across your question and it reminded me of when I changed over my HP computer case. When I looked up your model number I see you have an AMD 6 core CPU. The motherboard is a form that is the standard ATX. There should be no problem putting that motherboard inside any ATX form factor case. These are most common in what would be a mid-tower size. The card reader will not be transferable. The unit only has a 300 watt power supply so if you plan on adding a graphics card you will have to bump up the power supply to 5-6 hundred watts. Insure you get a PSU that is at least 80+ bronze certified. This I where my personal opinion comes into play. You have an AMD system so I would go with an AMD solution for your graphics card. Radeon still has the best drivers for GPUs as far as I am concerned. Here is an example of a nice card and please note this is the Canadian site so the price might be lower in the USA.
