Adaptive Sync Monitors

So, I am looking to upgrade my GPU this summer and have not made a choice on AMD or Nvidia (No fanboys please, I will get whatever card gives me the best performance that I can afford. Period.) and I was wondering about the adaptive sync choices out there. I know that G-sync requires Nvidia cards and the G-sync hardware to be in the monitor for it to work, but does that necessitate that freesync not be enabled? I am really liking the new 1440p curved monitor from Asus for my monitor upgrade, but I want to know if I could also do freesync on it if I end up going with a Radeon 300 series card. I know there isn't really any information about this monitor right now, but does anyone have some info that I don't have?
