I'm looking into getting a new motherboard and one of the features I really want is dual gigabit ports. However most of the dual port motherboards have one Intel and the second is something else, except on the really high end boards which I can't afford. Can you still do teaming with an Intel and, lets say, a Realtek? Or do they both have to be an Intel.
In my windows server 2012 machine I have two Realtek onboard NIC's and one PCI-E based Intel NIC. They all work together in a team.
If you have the available PCI slots you would be better off going on ebay and getting a used intel server dual port adapter for $30. That way you don't need to find a specific motherboard with dual ports you will always have dual ports. Plus they are matching chip sets for the team which is always better.
