AD Group Sync Issue FreeNAS11.2-RC2

Sort of an odd one here, long story short I have FreeNAS-11.2-RC2 joined to my Server 2016 AD domain, and when I run the command “wbinfo -g” (on my freenas box) I can see all the groups I have in AD. My issue comes when I try to modify any of my dataset’s permissions for SMB sharing. I can only see a handful of the stock groups created when you create a DC and non of the ones I have created. Though I can see the share, but when I try to connect to a specific share folder I get this error: FreeNAS%20Issue

Running the following in my environment:

  • Windows 10 Pro LTSB
  • Server 2016 data-center
  • FreeNAS-11.2-RC2
  • VMWare ESXI 6.5U2

Looks like a permissions issue, does the user your trying to run wbinfo -g with have access?

I’m using my own root account, so yes it does have access to all the necessary settings to change anything on the system. Not sure how that can affect me being bale to see AD groups in the permission’s “Groups” section of a dataset?!?

I feel dumb, I didn’t realize you can type in the group name within the permission settings of a FreeNAS Dataset :man_facepalming:
