I have a hand me down Acer Aspire 5536/5236 that i've been using for college.
I have to open it up to put some new speakers inside, so i figured i could upgrade the CPU while i'm doing so.
So, what is the best CPU i can fit on it?
The motherboard itself is has the socket S1g2 and the CPUs for it are quite inexpensive, so i can get pretty much anything.
Seems like it can take the Turion 64 X2 RM-74, so it's not much of a stretch to think it could maybe take the RM-77 as well. That's a nice 200MHz boost if it works.
If you're fine with some experimentation you can give the Turion X2 Ultra ZM-87 a shot just for the chance of getting that max-spec.
I was actually thinking about putting the ZM-87 on it, it's on the same socket specs, it has the same TDP as all others, i believe it could work...
