Which cpu should I go with a core i5 2400 or an a6 3670k? Graphics power doesn't matter and please no fucking fanboy responses. Back up your choice with data. They will be paired with 8 gigs of Corsair Vengence a WD 640 gb hdd a lightscribe 24x dvd burner 450wat Dell psu and an NZXT Source 210 case.
r u planning on upgrading in the future?
ofcourse
then id go for the i5 2400, because depending on what motherboard chipset u get for intel, either the chipset P67 or z77. if it is chipset p67 or h61, for example, then you would have to flash your bios. but for chipset z77, you don't have to flash it because it is compatible for both ivy and sandy bridge. but be aware that haswell cpu will be for lga 1150 and will not be compatible for lga 1155. for fm1, amd is going full on with fm2 because they will be producing future apu set for fm2 socket.
thats a little too upgradeable.... when i upgrade i wipe out my whole rig
You can upgrade... With an AMD FM2 socket. AMD "Richland" is out next month on March 19, most of "Richland's" will be 40% faster than their "Trinity" counterparts and top of the line A10 6800k from "Richland" series will be 20 to 25% than A10 5800k from "Trinity" series... AMD A10 6800k will beat an i5 3570k with same GPU on, the AMD Radeon HD 7670 or better since its rumored you can use wider range of 7xxx series GPU's...
Its cheaper to go AMD route... With best possible "Richland" gaming rig/build I think you could easily play and record Battlefield 3 at 1080p60fpsMaxedOut surely you will play Crysis 3 at 1080p60fpsLow or 720p60fpsMedium(?)... Cant wait also btw all current sockets are dead, Haswell will have a new socket or be integrated into a motherboard....
i say go LGA 1155, go with a 3570k (almost same price as 2400 & 2500k) and a decent mobo, you can save a few bucks if you dont plan on running SLI or crossfire. get a decent card. not sure what your budget is, but a 7850 might be suffice for most games.
@gtjc If you really reccomend Radeon HD 7850 then he could really just go AMD APU route/path since AMD's "Richland" APU series will use an 7xxx series for Dual Graphics/Hybrid Crossifre X ... Ok maybe not Radeon HD 7850, most likely 7670 but with Dual Graphics well it would be close since APU is Radeon HD 8660D. If we tested i5 3570k with Radeon HD 7670 and A10 6800k with the same GPU I think AMD would won...
CPU vs CPU not but with GPU's AMD A10 6800k will win and its cheaper than an i5 3570k.
Guys, just try the AMD "alternative"... Its bad at all as most of your fellow fanboys says, hopefully you will do proper research to put proper hardware without any issues. If you got defective mobo or something then replace so dont go trash imediatly just because you think everything is perfect like in your fairytales inside your brain...
well, we don't know how well the a10-6800k performs compared to the ivy bridge so let see how it does when it releases.
punchkick... AMD's CPU A10 6800k Radeon HD 8660D APU will be 20 to 25% faster than A10 5800k Radeon HD 7660D APU... In short top of the line of Richland series APU's will be 20-25% faster than their "Trinity" series APU counterparts/predecessors and other from Richland will be 40% faster than their counterparts/predecessors. Haswells IGP is slower than A10 5800k's APU and A10 6800k APU will probavly spit and eat it twice like A10 5800k APU did to Intel HD Graphics 4000. iHD G4000 is three times weaker than A10 6800k's APU, even thought its an unfair to compare them since A10 6800k is newer even thought it wont cost as near as i5 3570k. A supported fact:
http://teksyndicate.com/forum/cpu/amd-richland-cpu-apu-march-19/132129
AMD "Trinity" A10 5800k CPU Radeon HD 7660D APU 8Gb 2133mhz DDR3 RAM with GPU Radeon HD 6670 2Gb in Dual Graphics/Hybrid Crossfire X mode can run Battlefield 3 at 1080p resolution with framerate above 60fps while settings are set on Ultra preset, all at stock clocked speed without any overclock... If all overclocked except RAM I think you could record with DXtory BF3 1080p60fpsUltra without any PC lag...
Here is a video, a bit different configuration so it does not cost much as best possible configuration for AMD A10 5800k APU...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ5hhGrOKAk
As you can see he has a good framerate and never below 30 at Ultra Preset... He has 11 more fps when not recording. If he had used an 2gb version of Radeon HD 6670 he would get a average of 60 fps, well I am just providing some proof and that. If you dont buy a cooler, SSD and an 80 plus power supply and an DVD player it would cost like only 450$ while the best one would be if you are willing to spend to about 600-650$.
AMD is a viable option... Il make a build probavly now... Maybe if I got time right now.
The i5 is going to give you a lot more processing power, so if the graphical capabilitiy doesn't matter to you, get the i5 2400.
maybe i could try building a cheap richland apu desktop computer a friend of mine so he could play some mmorpg at 1080p once it comes out and save some money for parts
Dont expect something wonderfull... If make the best system possible with upcoming "richland" then I think you could play it at medium high at 1080p with maybe 60 frames but I never saw a video of an APU playing MMO's. It will work, specially for "Richland"... WOW will just run fine since its relatively old game.
hey, so there this source that strongly claims that the a10-6800k gpu is twice as powerful than the hd 4000 and that it is slightly above on par with phenom x6 1100t and phenom ii x4 980 on productivity level.
source is http://lensfire.in/25501/news/amd-richland-apu-a10-6800k-benchmark-review/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+lenzfire-news+%28Lensfire%29
this i could save up for my friend's future desktop computer if i can speculate that amd will cut prices on their 2nd gen apu and make richland apu prices pretty similar to the same price the 2nd gen apu used to have. that pretty much a big step for amd
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Dk36c - hopefully if you got 595, 45$ ... Well this is a beast, it has an good SSD, great power supply with a neat safety feature so your computer dosent go into flames. I hope you have an that much cash or wait for Richland APU to get released so you can buy it for cheaper... Or get a richland. Depending on what you want.
