A very disappointed pc builder needs help

hey guys thanks for taking a look at my post :)

So a while back i bought a thermaltake chaser full atx case then bought the other parts i needed, gtx 670 4gb, 3570k, 1tb hdd, h80, 1050 watt psu 80+ gold drom cougar, and now im down to the waiting for my last 2 parts. i always had my eye on the asus maximus V formula and the asrock ov formula, but just a few hours ago i noticed that the maximus is super atx , and the asrock is SSI CEB. Both are un compatible with my case. D: sooo i need recmoendations for GOOD OC z77 mobos for gaming.

boards ive looked at include the msi big bang that recenly was released. Although this board seems very good for overclocking it lacks an extra 4 pin cpu power outlet so you will e limited to only the 8 pin.

heres the link for my case : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133191

If u know of any good motherboards that are of z77 decent please list them below . Sky is the limit on price (not that motherboards are a ver expensive part of a computer, but more of a very important part).

Thanks for reading !

asus has DigI+ vrms which is good for OCing

and I would pick up about 4 of these for you H80, vortexx has some I believe and they are either as good or better than stock fans and much quieter

Yeah, if not the Premium, then the work station board is pretty awesome. I don't see the point in getting the Pro when you could get the Deluxe though.

I'm sure you could find the Premium in stock somewhere.

As for the fans, I don't have any of those yet. I'm going to be picking some up when I get water cooling going though.

yeah i dont really need any after market fans for my h80. btw the only main diffrence between the pro, and premium is the extra pci slot and thunderbolt on the premium right? Great choices on those boards though thanks for sharing your input but are u aware of any new good asus motherboards coming out that are more geared towards overclocking and gaming? Because I really havn't seen any new releases of asus motherboards besides the new RoG maximus's

These are geared for overclocking and gaming. They just don't have cheesy marketing all over them.

The premium has more power phases than the pro, which makes it better for overclocking. The Deluxe also has more power phases than the pro. The premium is able to do quad SLI and Crossfire with four separate cards, while the Deluxe and Pro can do Quad SLI and Crossfire with two dual GPU cards.

The premium also has more bandwidth in its PCI-E slots. If you put four single GPU cards into the premium, each GPU will run at PCI-E 3.0 X8 which is equivalent to PCI-E 2.0 X16. The Deluxe and Pro only have two slots like this, so if you install two dual GPU cards, each GPU will only run at PCI-E 3.0 X4 which is equivalent to PCI-E 2.0 X8.

There are probably some other small differences as well, but I'd have to look them up. The Premium might actually have more power phases than the Deluxe, but I doubt it. The Premium should have some other higher tier parts that the Deluxe doesn't have though.

Btw, you only need one 8-pin CPU connector to overclock. The only time you would probably even come close to needing the extra 4-pin connector is if you're going to be cooling the CPU with liquid nitrogen.

They also have thunderbolt versions of all their P8Z77-V motherboards, but they cost more. I think the Premium comes stock with that feature though.

Here are some other motherboards I would suggest:

I would have to advise you to stay away from MSI, unless they've changed their bios since Z68. I had a Z68A-GD80 that I sent back because it was slowly dying on me. I'm pretty sure I just got a bad board, but their bios just doesn't allow you to overclock very easily in general. If you took the multiplier any higher than 47, it would throttle it back down between 45 and 47. That wasn't just a problem with my board either, because I read a review on the board later, and they all do that. Unless MSI has fixed that problem, I wouldn't buy from them.

Their graphics cards are great, but their motherboards are crap unless they've fixed them.

wow thanks so much, and yea I kinda had faith in msi because of their graphics cards, but now that I've heard your stories of a bad board I think I may go with the Deluxe from asus. its just the only thing that geared me away frim those boards is their rather old in the tech world

the maximus v formula is a eatx, but only slightly. the mounting points are the same as an atx ,I have this board and it fits perfect in a mid tower.

really so itll fit in an atx monting point?, I have a full tower so theirs plenty of room

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX hmm i guess its like the same

ya here is it in a mid tower

ALL asus boards are good at overclocking, they're a premium brand the boards I listed are some of the highest quality besides the maximus, the one with 3 slots has more space in between the first two so that would be better if if you were only doing a 2 card solutioin but both are excellent at overclocking, if you got the money ASUS is the brand to go for overclocking

Don't know if I am too late to offer this comment but hey, here we go. First off, can you return the case and get one you know for sure will fit the Mobo that you really want? Secondly Gigabyte make a number of very nice gaming boards with good quality components and warrantys.
