A request for guidance

So, this summer I'll be building a gaming PC with the components listed below. I'm not sure if this is the best system I can get for the money and would like any suggestions as to improve this system. I'd like to stay within $20 of the current total price and it needs to be available in Canada.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor $194.11

CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $54.99

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard $129.99

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory $59.99

Storage: A-Data S510 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk $89.99

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $69.79

Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card $299.00

Case: BitFenix Shinobi Window (White) ATX Mid Tower Case $79.99

Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart M 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply $75.04

Total: $1052.89

Looks like you're off to a good start. I'm also planning my first build which is also around the $1000 mark.

The 8350 only natively supports 1866 MHz RAM at 1 DIMM per channel. You can go higher than this although there is a possibility you may run into stability issues. I would search around to see if other people have run higher than 1866 MHz RAM with the 8350 and if they had any issues. Worst case scenario you'll just have to underclock the RAM to 1866 MHz. It appears that motherboard only supports up to DDR3 2000 MHz so there might be issues running the 2133 MHz kit. You could probably save a couple dollars by just going with a 1866 MHz kit from the start.

Unless you are gaming at a higher resolution than 1920x1080, a 3 GB graphics card may be unnecessary. You could probably save a few dollars by still getting a 7950 but a 2 GB version.

I usually like to overbuy on power supplies in case of future upgrades or using it in a different system, but realistically a 600 Watt PSU would also be enough to power that system and could save you a few dollars.

Since you're not building this until summer, I would keep this list saved but before you buy you should evaluate it again because prices will have gone down and you may be able to squeeze in some better hardware for the same price as what this would cost now.

This is more of a personal preference thing, but I like to spend a bit more on a motherboard because I feel a well-built and stable motherboard goes a long way in having a stable computer. The motherboard you have there looks good, I wouldn't have any issue buying it.

I would save some money and buy a Asrock motherbaord like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157280

and with the money you save buy a better water cooler the H60 isn't bad but it isn't the best out there I have had one one and my cahnge to a H80 was a good one and from there to the H100 was even better.

The FX-6300 is better for gaming, for a lesser price,it's only a few FPS slower than the FX-8350.

I upgraded the 7950 to a 7970,put in an H100i for overclocking.

If you plan on a small OC,get a Cooler master 212 Evo instead, than you can get the case you wanted.

I've recently had the H60,it wasn't any good to tell you the truth.
