I bought a Fractal Design Define R5 case not too long ago and was really excited to have a quiet system. But I noticed that my FSP 60+ Silver 650 watt power supply is pretty damn loud when it's under load (it's not as noticeable when idling but noise is still there) while the rest of the components seem pretty quiet. I have a single GTX 970 (MSI) so the PSU can handle the system. Well, what I want to ask is, what are some very good, quiet, yet affordable power supplies (it'll probably be a while until I replace mine but I want to do some research first and make an informed decision on what to get).
mmm yeah thats a tough Corsair RM silent is super silent (just like every other PSU that had 0db fans profiles).
There are fanless PSU you know?
Okay, cheers, will look into this.
I can vouch for the RM
While gaming I pull around 450watts from the wall and my RM750 doesn't spin up.
The only time I've ever seen it spin up is on boot
If the enermax fanless psu's drop in price I might give them a look but I don't think I'd drop that amount of money on them (around €230 I think).
The German company, Be Quiet! is known for really good cooling, really good psu efficiency, and really... well quiet components. They're really popular in Europe, but not much is known about them in the Americas. They have my recommendation though, they are quiet, cool, and efficient.
I've been eyeing the RM series. I've heard it's tough to plug in the modular plugs with Corsair psu's, is this true? I watched the video of what happened to Logan's rig and I might be a little paranoid. :L
I've been looking for stuff based in Europe, seeing if there's stuff available on local sites and there's some be quiet! products on there. Didn't now much about them before, I'll check out some of their stuff. Cheers!
if you want a quiet PSU go with the be quiet series power supply from be quiet. they are pretty dam quiet
fanless seasonic or as mentioned one of corsair's rm series.
