Cheers for having a look guys:
I'm building a new computer after the summer exams (here in sunny England) and I cannot exceed £600 ($907.12) please see my parts list and advise on any improvements I could make
just a few notes:
- I'm happy with the case and wont change that
- I would like to stick with Intel (had too many AMD CPUs fail on me and I've lost the trust...)
Thanks for your time and welcoming me to the Family!
Ed.

Do you already have a HDD for mass storage?
After windows you won't even have, I'd guess about 200GB left on it that SSD.
200GB won't last you long, considering how games like GTA V take up like 60GB. Skyrim after modding can get pretty hefty, etc.
Try this. Changed the PSU and GPU.

Nice build. Get an HDD for sure, and possibly a CPU cooler. Wouldn't want your CPU to thermal throttle, and end up being your bottleneck.
I think the build is fine. A few notes though. If anyone decides or tries to change your opinion on a case, call them out on it, I am serious, a computer case should be a matter of personal opinion and preference. If you already have an HDD, ignore this next part. I would recommend something like a WD 1 TB or 2 TB for some extra room.
Thanks for the help guys, I should have said I will transfer a 1 Tb hard drive from my old PC before giving it to my sister :P
I am thinking that I will use the stock cooler for the time being before upgrading it to a corsiar H55 in a few months after saving up for it

Build looks okay to me. ☺
I've had a ferret in my attic and I've found an old Zalman heat-sink from an old server machine my dad braught home from work (picture of the thing i found below) will this be better than a stock heat-sink baring in mind its probably a good 5-6 year old and the stock one will be brand new?

Age of a CPU cooler shouldn't matter, it's just copper and aluminum after all (oxidation shouldn't make that big of a difference). But you might want to make sure the fan works and the mounting works.
As for performance, you'll have to look up the benchmarks done back then, and compare it to the parts you are using now.

clean mitx build - i5, gtx960, 8gb ram, good psu (non-modular but you can easily tidy up cables with a few zip ties), 250gb samsung 850 ssd, 1tb wd blue, decent mb.
I never use Samsung drives I've built up a hatred for them after 3 died on me :p but I've also had a look at a 960 as they are not much more than a 760 I was looking at a windforce card from gigabyte as they have served me well in the past and they look cool as well which is a bonus, thanks for the help
